Thodoris Xintaris, a skilled bouzouki player and rebetiko singer from Skopelos, performing live in summer (Anatoli) and winter venues

‌‌‌‌‌‌

Thodoris (Theodoris) Xintaris comes from Skopelos Island and has become one of its most talented and respected musicians. Son of the renowned rebetis Giorgos Xintaris, he grew up surrounded by music and developed a deep love for the rebetiko tradition.

During the summer months, Thodoris plays the bouzouki and sings together with his brother Antonis and their father at their legendary ouzeri, Anatoli, located above Skopelos Castle. Operating since 1982, Anatoli is not only famous for its traditional Greek dishes but also for its magical evenings filled with authentic live rebetiko music and breathtaking panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. Thodoris himself has described Anatoli as a “great university,” where he and his brother learned their art and grew as professional musicians.

Although he studied Digital Systems at the University of Piraeus, Thodoris chose not to follow a career in that field. Instead, he devoted himself entirely to music, proving his passion by performing tirelessly and preserving the soul of rebetiko. He has stated that in the beginning his association with rebetiko was amateur, but over the years—through constant practice and the guidance of Anatoli—he became a professional artist. His mentor remains his father, Giorgos, from whom he continues to learn every day.

Beyond Skopelos, Thodoris also performs during the winter season in Athens, appearing in well-known rebetiko venues and bringing traditional Greek music to urban audiences. In addition, he has participated in theatrical productions, showcasing the depth and versatility of his musical talent.

For those looking for things to do in Skopelos that go beyond beaches, an evening with Thodoris Xintaris at Anatoli is a true cultural highlight—combining Greek cuisine, live music, and the authentic spirit of Skopelos nightlife.
